GENERAL BULLETIN BOARD

Tax Information for Financial Aid Recipients is Now Available

In general, grants and scholarships received in excess of fees/tuition and books/supplies should be listed as a resource on a student's tax form. Recipients of scholarships, fellowships and grants can now obtain an estimate of taxable awards on URSA (www.ursa.ucla.edu). Select View Tax Withholding Report paw to obtain this report, which can be used when completing your tax return for 2006.

The University is required to file Tax Form 1098-T (Tuition Payment Statement) with the IRS for UCLA students who were billed for “Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses” during the tax year. Form 1098-T is used to compute eligibility for education related tax credits. A copy of this form is also mailed to students by TCRS (a vendor for the University of California ) in February. If you have questions pertaining to Form 1098-T you can find answers on the UCLA 1098-T sponsored website at http://www.tcrs.com/ or by calling 1-1-877-467-3821. This form is not generated by the Financial Aid Office and the assistance we can offer you in answering any questions is very limited.

Additional tax information can be found at www.tax.ucla.edu.
