Governor's Scholarship Programs
In September 2000, Governor Gray Davis signed into law two merit-based scholarship programs for public high school students in the State of California.
The California Governor’s Scholarshare Board has posted the following notice (January 2007):
Students who earned qualifying exam scores for a Governor’s Scholars Award in the year 2002 and received an Award Notification Letter from their schools or districts can claim a Governor’s Scholar Award now. Students who believe they have won an award, but have not received an Award Notification Letter or have misplaced it can contact the school at which they took the exam for information on how to claim their award.
Students who are eligible to claim a Governor’s Distinguished Mathematics and Science Scholars Award based on Advanced Placement (AP) and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores earned in 2002 or earlier and have already claimed a Governor’s Scholars Award, can claim a Math and Science award now. Awards earned in 2002 can be claimed below. Awards must be claimed by the five-year anniversary of the June 30th date following the date of the qualifying exam.
No awards will be granted to students for exams taken after December 31, 2002.
